چکیده

Ultrasonic absorption measurements in the range 0.5--56 MHz, and measurements of velocity at 8.87 MHz, were made in collagen suspensions in which molecular integrity was preserved, in a range of concentrations 0.07--0.7% by weight, at 10 and 20 degrees C. Absorption and velocity values, per unit concentration, exhibited by collagen are much greater in magnitude than those exhibited by globular proteins.

Pattern Recognition Characterizations of Micromechanical and Morphological Materials States via Analytical Quantitative Ultrasonics

If an ultrasonic signal is introduced into or generated within a structure, the state of the structure governs its propagation and detection. The assessment of the state of the structure can be affected by material properties, geometrical properties, environmental conditions, and measurement conditions. Because of the large number of possible properties and conditions, the quantitative ultrason...

Evaluating the effect of pH on mechanical strength and cell compatibility of nanostructured collagen hydrogel by the plastic compression method

Objective(s): One of the main constraints of collagen hydrogel scaffolds for using in tissue engineering is mechanical weakness. Plastic compression (PC) is a physical method to overcome the mechanical limitation of collagen hydrogel. Materials and Methods: In this study, the effects of pH on mechanical and biological properties of PC hydrogels were investigated. Collagen hydrogels were fabrica...

Semiconductor superlattices: a tool for terahertz acoustics.

The properties of optical to acoustic transduction of semiconductor superlattices have been explored for several years in the sub terahertz frequency range. Using femtosecond laser pulses focused on these structures, acoustic modes are excited with a frequency related to the periodicity of the structure stacking. We have shown that these acoustic waves can be extracted and can propagate in the ...

Investigation of intracranial media ultrasonic monitoring model.

The objectives are to investigate the peculiarities of the ultrasound pulse propagation through human extra/intracranial media by mathematical simulation and to confirm the simulation results experimentally by proving the suitability of the ultrasonic time-of-flight measurement method for human intracranial media (IM) physiological non-invasive monitoring. The mathematical model of ultrasound p...
